When storage space utilization on one of your datastores surpasses 30%, the Datastore usage on disk - example alarm is triggered. When you acknowledge an alarm, other users see the alarm as acknowledged and know that you are aware of disk space usage rates.

1

On the host ESXi-A, increase datastore usage to a value above 30% to trigger the Datastore usage on disk - example alarm.

Create snapshots of existing virtual machines.

Deploy new virtual machines.

Your vCenter Server system sends an email message to the address that you specified and the alarm appears in the Alarms panel on the right.

2

In the Alarms panel, right-click the Datastore usage on disk - example alarm and select Acknowledge.

After you acknowledge the alarm, its actions are discontinued and the alarm appears in the Acknowledged tab of the Alarms panel. Alarms are neither cleared, nor reset when acknowledged.

3

Verify that you have received an email notification from the vCenter Server system.

Reset the triggered alarm to enable its actions.
