A vSphere standard switch serves as a container for port configurations that use a common set of network adapters, including sets that contain no network adapters. Each virtual switch provides a finite number of ports through which virtual machines and network services can reach one or more networks.

Browse to a host in the vSphere Web Client.

Click the Manage tab, and select Networking > Virtual Switches.

Select a standard switch from the list and click Edit settings.

Click Edit.

In the Properties section, set the Number of ports for the standard switch with the drop-down menu.

(Optional) Change the MTU (bytes) for the standard switch.

Click OK.
