You can import and export virtual appliances to OVA and OVF files.

Connect to a vSphere server.


Get the virtual appliance you want to export.

$oldVApp = Get-VApp OldVApp

Export the OldVApp virtual appliance to a local directory and name the exported appliance WebApp.

Export-VApp -VApp $oldVApp -Name WebApp -Destination D:\vapps\ -CreateSeparateFolder

Import the WebApp virtual appliance from a local directory to the Storage2 datastore.

Import-VApp -Source D:\vapps\WebApp\WebApp.ovf -VMHost ( Get-VMHost Host1 ) -Datastore ( Get-Datastore -VMHost MyHost01 -Name Storage2 )
