After you install your guest operating system, you can install VMware Tools to enhance the performance and interaction with the virtual machine.

Power on the virtual machine.

In the Status section of the virtual machine’s Summary tab, select Install VMware Tools.

(Optional) To automatically check for updates of VMware Tools every time the virtual machine is powered on, select the Upgrade VMware Tools automatically check box in the Install VMware Tools window.

Click Install to start the Installation wizard.

vSphere Web Access connects the virtual machine’s CD drive to an installation file on the ESX host machine or vCenter Server. If autorun is enabled in your guest operating system (the default setting for Windows operating systems), a dialog box appears asking if you want to install VMware Tools.

Click the Console tab and use the guest operating system to complete the installation.

Restart the guest operating system when prompted.

VMware Tools is installed.
