When you add a parallel port to a virtual machine, you can use a parallel port on the host or an output file.

In the vSphere Client inventory, right-click the virtual machine and select Edit Settings.

Click the Hardware tab and select Add.

Select Parallel Port and click Next.

Select the type of media that you would like the parallel port to access.

Select the port from the drop-down menu.

Browse to the location of the file.

(Optional) In the Device status panel, deselect Connect at power on if you do not want the parallel port device to be connected when the virtual machine powers on.

Review the information on the Ready to Complete page, and click Finish.

Click OK to save your changes and close the dialog box.
