When you create a datastore on an iSCSI storage device, the Add Storage wizard guides you through the configuration.

1

Log in to the vSphere Client and select a server from the inventory panel.

2

Click the Configuration tab and click Storage.

3

Click Add Storage.

4

Select the Disk/LUN storage type and click Next.

The Select Disk/LUN page appears. This can take a few seconds depending on the number of targets.

5

Select the iSCSI device to use for your datastore and click Next.

6

Review the current disk layout and click Next.

7

Enter a datastore name and click Next.

The datastore name appears in the vSphere Client, and the label must be unique within the current VMware vSphere instance.

8

If needed, adjust the file system values and capacity you use for the datastore.

By default, the entire free space available on the storage device is offered to you.

9

Click Next.

The Ready to Complete page appears.

10

Review the datastore configuration information and click Finish.

A datastore is now available on the iSCSI storage device.
