You might need to remove a data node or remote collector node from a vRealize Operations Manager cluster as part of resizing or maintaining your deployment.

Note

You cannot remove the vRealize Operations Manager master node. In addition, you cannot remove a replica node using this procedure. To remove a replica node, see Remove High Availability.

Note any adapters that are installed on the node, in case you want to reinstall those adapters on another node. Removing a node also removes the adapter connections supported by that node.

1

In a Web browser, navigate to the vRealize Operations Manager administration interface at https://master-node-name-or-ip-address/admin.

2

Log in with the admin username and password for the master node.

3

Under Nodes in the vC Ops Cluster, select the node to remove.

4

If it is online, take the node offline.

5

Click the red X to remove the node.

vRealize Operations Manager rebalances the cluster.

Removing a node does not decommission the node because sensitive files, such as certificate files, remain on the node.

For security, if you do not expect to re-add the node to the cluster, take one of the following precautions.

Safeguard access to the node.

Securely delete it if it is a virtual machine.

Securely erase the disk if it is a physical machine.
