Creating a capacity project for hardware involves changing the host hardware followed by the datastore hardware. Before you purchase new hardware, create some projects to determine if the purchase is necessary.

If you implement a hardware change project, you know in advance what your capacity requirements are. You can use projects to plan for hardware changes in your environment for the following circumstances.

If you implement a new application, do you have enough resources to support the disk space required for the deployment?

If you add three servers to an existing cluster, will that be enough to sustain the increase in bandwidth through Q4?

What would happen if you made a configuration change to your environment?

Before you act on a vRealize Operations Manager recommendation, check what would happen if you implemented the recommended change to your environment.
