By importing data, an established version of vRealize Operations Manager can assume the monitoring that was done by an earlier deployment.

For data import, the source is the earlier version of vRealize Operations Manager, and the target is the new, current version. The process occurs side by side, and while the import is in progress, the source continues to monitor resources. After migration, both target and source are monitoring the resources.

On the left, select Administration > Solutions. On the right, select the Import Data tab.

The Import Data page includes controls to start and stop the process.

Data Import Controls

Import Data

Launch a wizard to find and connect to sources from which to import data.

Cancel Data Import

Stop an import that is in progress.

Retry Import

Restart an import that stopped or failed for any reason.

Download Log Files

Obtain a ZIP file of the source and target migration logs.

Reviewing the logs is helpful because the differences between versions of vRealize Operations Manager mean that a data import is not always a 100% or 1-to-1 operation.

The Import Data page data grid shows progress as the target imports from sources.

Number of Resources

Number of source objects that will be imported to the target

Number of collected metrics on the source that will be imported to the target
