You add symptoms and recommendations to the alert definition so that when the host system compliance alert is generated, the symptoms appear a rules on the Compliance tab.

Configure the name, host object type, and alert impact setting for the alert so that it appears as a compliance standard. See User Scenario: Add Symptoms to the Host Compliance Standard.

In the Alert Definition Workspace window, click Add Symptom Definitions and add the SSH symptom.

From the Symptom Definition Type drop-down menu, select Property.

In the Quick Filter search text box, enter ssh.

Drag the SSH service is running symptom to the symptoms workspace.

If you do not have a property symptom definition that specifies 5.5 as the host system version, click the plus sign and create the symptom.

On the Add Symptom Definition window, enter version in the Filter text box.

Expand Summary and drag Version to the workspace.

In the Symptom Definition Name text box, enter Host version does not start with 5.5.

From the property operator drop-down menu, select Starts with.

In the Enter Value text box, enter 5.5.

Change the Wait Cycle and Cancel Cycle values to 1.

Click Save.

Drag the Host version does not start with 5.5 symptom to the symptom set that contains the SSH service is running symptom.

For the symptom set, select Any in the This symptom set is true when drop-down menu.

Click Add Recommendations and create the recommendations for the standard.

Click the plus sign to add a recommendation.

Enter a recommendation in the text box.

For example, Turn on the SSH service and Upgrade the host operating system. If you have a local runbook, you can provide a link to your local instructions.

Click Save.

Drag the recommendation to the workspace.

If one of the symptom conditions becomes true, the symptom is triggered and the compliance alert is generated for the object. Because the alert definition includes the Compliance subtype, the generated alert appears as a compliance standard on the Compliance tab.
