You can edit the settings of a virtual machine to change its name, description, owner, and the resources allocated to it.

Display the virtual machine.

In the navigation pane on the left, navigate to vCloud Air Services.

Click Cloud Instances and double-click the cloud instance that contains the virtual machine.

In the Related Objects tab, click the Virtual Machines tab.

All virtual machines in the cloud instance are displayed.

You can customize your view by setting filters and hiding or selecting columns.

Double-click the virtual machine.

If the virtual machine is powered on, select Power Off from the Actions menu to power it off.

Click Edit Settings under VM Settings.

Option

Description

Name

The name of the virtual machine.

Description

An optional description for the virtual machine.

Owner

The owner of the virtual machine. You should be aware that changing the owner of a virtual machine changes the owner of the vApp to which the virtual machine belongs. Therefore, the owner of all the virtual machines in the vApp changes.

vCPU

The number of virtual CPUs allocated to the virtual machine.

Memory

The amount of memory allocated to the virtual machine.

Storage

The amount and type of storage allocated to the virtual machine. You can change the storage amount and type for any hard disk. You can also add hard disks.

Note

You cannot change both the storage tier and the storage amount at the same time. Change one setting, click OK to save your changes, then open the dialog box again and change the other setting.
