Organization administrators can configure certain organization virtual datacenter networks to provide DHCP services to virtual machines in the organization.

When you power on a virtual machine with the following configuration, vCloud Director assigns a DHCP IP address to that virtual machine.

A NIC connected to an organization virtual datacenter network that has DHCP enabled.

The IP mode for the connected NIC set to DHCP.

Verify that you have a routed organization virtual datacenter network or an internal organization virtual datacenter network.

1

Click Administration and select the organization virtual datacenter.

2

Click the Org VDC Networks tab, right-click the organization virtual datacenter network name and select Configure Services.

3

Select Enable DHCP.

4

Type a range of IP addresses or use the default range.

vCloud Director uses these addresses to satisfy DHCP requests. The range of DHCP IP addresses cannot overlap with the static IP pool for the organization virtual datacenter network.

5

Set the default lease time and maximum lease time or use the default values.

6

Click OK.

vCloud Director updates the network to provide DHCP services.
