You can allocate IP addresses to an Edge Gateway or deallocate the IP addresses. When an IP address is allocated to an Edge Gateway, you can use that IP address to create NAT, Firewall, or VPN rules on that Edge Gateway. If an IP address is allocated to an Edge Gateway, but is not in use in any rule on that Edge Gateway, you might decide to deallocate the IP address from that Edge Gateway so you can use it in a different Edge Gateway.

Before changing the allocation of an IP address, verify whether the IP address is used in a rule on that Edge Gateway. You can see which allocated IP addresses are used in rules for a particular Edge Gateway by getting its list of IP addresses, as described in Retrieve a List of an Edge Gateway's IP Addresses and Their Usage Status.
