Active approval policies that are in use are read-only. To update an active approval policy that is in use, you must create a copy of the original policy and make the changes in the new policy.

When you make the copy of the approval policy, you can edit all of the settings except the policy type. You can also create new pre- and post-approval levels. For instructions about creating an approval level, see Create an Approval Level.

Log in to the vCloud Automation Center console as a tenant administrator.

Select Administration > Approval Policies.

Select the approval policy to copy.

Click the Copy icon (Copy).

A copy of the approval policy is created.

Select the new approval policy.

Click the Edit icon (Edit).

Enter a name in the Name text box.

(Optional) Enter a description in the Description text box.

Indicate the state of the policy, from the Status drop-down menu.

Approval policy is saved in draft state.

Active

The approval policy is saved in active state and you can use it in an entitlement.

Edit the pre- and post-approval levels.

Click Update.

Edit the entitlements that are linked to the old policy and update them to use the new approval policy. Deactivate the old policy.
