The vSphere agent manages vCenter Server instances. An administrator typically installs the agent on the same machine that hosts the Manager Service component.

The endpoint name you configure in vCloud Automation Center must match the endpoint name provided to the vSphere proxy agent during installation. Otherwise, data collection fails.

The IaaS components, including the Manager Service and Website, are installed.

Verify that you have completed all the vSphere Agent Requirements.

If you already created a vSphere endpoint for use with this agent, make a note of the endpoint name.

Redundant agent install

Install redundant agents on different servers, but name and configure them identically to provide high-availability.

Single agent install

Select a unique identifier for this agent.

Maintain a record of the name, credentials, and platform instance for each agent. You might need this information to configure endpoints, or to add hosts in the future. Agent names can only be duplicated for redundant agents that you configure identically.

Enter the fully qualified domain name and port number of the machine where you installed the Manager Service component.

For example,

The default port is 443.

Enter the fully qualified domain name and the port number of the machine where you installed the Manager Website component.

For example,

The default port is 443.

Click Test to verify connectivity to each host.

Type the name of the endpoint.

The endpoint name that you provide here must match exactly the endpoint name configured in vCloud Automation Center. Otherwise, data collection fails.

Click Add.

Click Next.

Click Install to begin the installation.

After several minutes a success message appears.

Click Next.

Click Finish.

For high-availability, you can install and configure a redundant agent for your endpoint. Install each redundant agent on a separate server, but name and configure the agents identically.
