After installing VMware Integrated OpenStack, you can integrate it with the Hyperic agent and vRealize Operations.

Verify that the VMware vRealize Operations Management Pack for vRealize Hyperic is installed. See the Solution - vRealize Operations Managemen Pack for vRealize Hyperic documentation.

Verify that the vRealize Operations Management Pack for OpenStack is installed. See the vRealize Operations Management Pack for OpenStack documentation.

Determine if your Hyperic server has a valid certificate. This affects how you configure the Hyperic agent properties.

1

If you have not already, set up a Hyperic server.

Remember the user name, password, and IP address.

See the vRealize Hyperic documentation.

2

Using SSH, log in to the VMware Integrated OpenStack manager.

3

Obtain and modify the agent properties file.

a

Go to https://my.vmware.com/web/vmware/details?productId=378&downloadGroup=VRHQ_584_AGENT.

b

Download the Hyperic 5.8.4 agent for Linux (64 bit).

c

Untar the downloaded file.

d

Copy the conf/agent.properties file.

e

Modify the copy of the conf/agent.properties file to match your Hyperic deployment.

agent.setup.camIP={HYPERIC SERVER ADDRESS}
agent.setup.camPort=7080
agent.setup.camSSLPort=7443
agent.setup.camSecure=yes
agent.setup.camLogin=hqadmin {HYPERIC SERVER LOGIN}
agent.setup.camPword=password {HYPERIC SERVER PASSWORD}
agent.setup.agentIP=*default*
agent.setup.agentPort=*default*
agent.setup.resetupTokens=no
agent.setup.acceptUnverifiedCertificate=no
Note

The agent.setup.acceptUnverifiedCertificate parameter is set to no by default. However, if your Hyperic server does not have a valid certificate, change this setting to yes to allow the agent start automatically.

f

Save the copy of the conf/agent.properties file.

4

Install the modified conf/agent.properties file in VMware Integrated OpenStack.

sudo viocli hyperic install \
     -s hyperic-hq-agent-x86-64-linux-5.8.4.tar.gz \
     -c agent.properties
5

Update your Hyperic server configuration.

a

Log in to your Hyperic server.

The default address and port is http://[hyperic_server_ip]:7080.

b

Go to the Auto-Discovery section to add the new OpenStack resources.

You can identify the new OpenStack resources by their node names, such as controller 01, controller02, loadbalancer01, loadbalancer02, compute01, and so on.

6

Configure the Hyperic adapter in vRealize Operations.

a

Log in to vRealize Operations.

b

Go to Solutions > Management Pack for Openstack > Hyperic Adapter.

c

Enter the Hyperic server URL and credentials.
