You can set up the VMware Identity Manager virtual appliance for failover and redundancy by adding multiple VMware Identity Manager virtual appliances in a cluster. If one of the virtual appliances becomes unavailable for any reason, VMware Identity Manager is still available.

You can also set up VMware Identity Manager in a secondary data center for failover and redundancy. If the primary VMware Identity Manager data center becomes unavailable, you redirect users to the secondary data center where they can continue to access resources in their My Apps portal. See Deploying VMware Identity Manager in Secondary Data Center with Active-Active Read-Only Capability for information.
