You create a database from a catalog when your application requires a database with known characteristics and data.

Verify that you have access to the organization and database group in which to create the new database.

Verify that you have Clone permission on the catalog database and Create databases permission on the database group in which you create the database.

Verify that you have Use template permission on at least one resource template, backup template.

Source Database

Choose a source database to clone from the catalog.

Clone Type

Select the type of clone you want to create.

Full clone

All database data will be copied to the new database.

Linked clone

The cloned database will be linked to the source database. This reduces storage costs, but may affect the performance of the source and clone databases.

Clone schema only

Clones the schema.

Do not clone schema or data

Only the base DB template, settings, and parameters are copied to the new database. No data or schemas are included in the clone.

Specify storage allocation for each disk type, and, if multiple datastores are available, choose the datastore the database should use for its virtual disks. For example, you may choose to map data disks to faster datastores to provide optimum performance, and backup disks to slower datastores where disk performance isn't of critical importance.

Options

Post-clone Script

Select an SQL script to run after the database is created or, optionally, click the plus (+) icon to create a new script and name it as a post-clone script. Click Edit to modify a script.
