You can remove an existing network from vFabric Data Director for Hadoop when you no longer need it. Removing an unused network frees the IP addresses for use.

Remove the cluster assigned to the network. See Delete A Cluster.


Log into the Data Director for Hadoop Web console.


Expand Resources and select Networks.


Select the network to remove and click the red X icon.


Respond Yes to the prompt.

If you have not removed the cluster that uses the network, you will receive an error message indicating the network cannot be removed because it is currently in use.

The network is removed and the IP addresses become available for use.
