You can change the username and password of the Data Director for Hadoop Web console and the CLI console.

The username and password you use to log into the Data Director for Hadoop Web console and the CLI console is stored in an XML configuration file. You must modify the configuration file to change the password.

Deploy the Data Director for Hadoop OVA template.

Install the CLI console. See Install the Data Director for Hadoop CLI Console.

1

Log into the Serengeti CLI console.

2

Edit the file /opt/serengeti/tomcat6/webapps/serengeti/WEB-INF/spring-security-context.xml, and locate the <user-service> element.

3

Edit the user name="username" password="password" value in the <user-service> element to use a username and password of your choosing.

The following example illustrates the use of the username/password combination serengeti/password.

<authentication-manager alias="authenticationManager">
  <authentication-provider>
      <user-service>
        <user name="serengeti" password="password" authorities="ROLE_ADMIN"/>
      </user-service>
   </authentication-provider>
</authentication-manager>
4

Save your changes to the spring-security-context.xmlfile.

5

Restart Apache Tomcat using the command sudo service tomcat restart.

Once you restart the Serengeti server, the new password takes effect.
