You can add datastores to vFabric Data Director for Hadoop to make them available to Hadoop clusters. vFabric Data Director for Hadoop supports both shared datastores and local datastores.

Deploy Data Director for Hadoop, and log in to the Data Director for Hadoop Web console.

Log into the Data Director for Hadoop Web console.

Expand Resources, and select Datastores.

Click the plus (+) icon.

Type a name for the datastore in the management server.

Type the name of a datastore in vSphere.

Select the datastore type in vSphere.

Recommended for master nodes. Enables you to leverage vMotion, HA, and Fault Tolerance.

Local

Recommended for worker nodes. Throughput is scalable and the cost of storage is lower.

The vSphere datastore is made available to the Hadoop cluster.
