Remove unnecessary virtual machines from the VMware Host Client inventory to free space on the datastore. Removing a virtual machine from the host deletes all virtual machine files from the datastore, including the configuration file and virtual disk files.

Power off the virtual machine.

Verify that the virtual machine does not share the disk with another virtual machine. If two virtual machines are sharing the same disk, the disk files are not deleted.

1

Click Virtual Machines in the VMware Host Client inventory.

2

Right-click the virtual machine from the list and select Delete from the drop-down menu.

3

Click Delete.
