Hardware Namespace

The Hardware namespace provides commands for configuring the virtual hardware of a virtual machine.

Get Command

dcli com vmware vcenter vm hardware get

Description

Returns the virtual hardware settings of a virtual machine.

Options

Option Name Type Required Description
vm string Yes Virtual machine identifier. The parameter must be an identifier for the resource type: VirtualMachine.

Example

dcli com vmware vcenter vm hardware get --vm testId


Update Command

dcli com vmware vcenter vm hardware update

Description

Updates the virtual hardware settings of a virtual machine.

Options

Option Name Type Required Description
vm string Yes Virtual machine identifier. The parameter must be an identifier for the resource type: VirtualMachine.
upgrade‑policy string No Scheduled upgrade policy. If set to NEVER, the Hardware.Info.upgrade-version option will be reset to unset. If unset, the value is unchanged. Valid values are: {NEVER, AFTER_CLEAN_SHUTDOWN, ALWAYS}
upgrade‑version string No Target hardware version to be used on the next scheduled virtual hardware upgrade. If specified, this option must represent a newer virtual hardware version than the current virtual hardware version reported in Hardware.Info.version. If Hardware.UpdateSpec.upgrade-policy is set to NEVER, this option must be unset. Otherwise, if this option is unset, default to the most recent virtual hardware version supported by the server. Valid values are: {VMX_03, VMX_04, VMX_06, VMX_07, VMX_08, VMX_09, VMX_10, VMX_11, VMX_12, VMX_13}

Upgrade Command

dcli com vmware vcenter vm hardware upgrade

Description

Upgrades the virtual machine to a newer virtual hardware version.

Options

Option Name Type Required Description
vm string Yes Virtual machine identifier. The parameter must be an identifier for the resource type: VirtualMachine.
version string No New virtual machine version. If unset, defaults to the most recent virtual hardware version supported by the server. Valid values are: {VMX_03, VMX_04, VMX_06, VMX_07, VMX_08, VMX_09, VMX_10, VMX_11, VMX_12, VMX_13}
