The virtual infrastructure is the foundation of an operational SDDC and consists primarily of the physical host's hypervisor and the control of these hypervisors. The management workloads consist of elements in the virtual management layer itself, along with elements in the cloud management layer, service management, business continuity, and security areas.

The following procedures describe the validated flow of installation and configuration for the virtual infrastructure for consolidated SDDC deployments.

1

Start the deployment of the virtual infrastructure in your consolidated SDDC deployment by installing and configuring all of the ESXi hosts.

2

Deploy and configure the vCenter Server and cluster components.

3

Deploy and configure the NSX instance for the consolidated cluster in your consolidated SDDC deployment.

4

Deploy vSphere Data Protection to provide the capability for backup and restore of SDDC management components.
