Activate a vFabric RabbitMQ License

When you purchase a vFabric RabbitMQ local production license, your account manager gives you one or more serial numbers. vFabric RabbitMQ is licensed per physical CPU that each RabbitMQ server runs on, with up to six cores per CPU. Each additional six cores require an additional license unit. This section describes how to activate a local license.

You perform this procedure on every computer on which you installed vFabric RabbitMQ server.

Note: This section does not apply if you installed RabbitMQ as part of vFabric Suite; for information on how to activate a network license, see Installation Note for vFabric Suite Customers.

  1. If it does not already exist, create a file called vf.rmq-serial-numbers.txt in the directory appropriate to your operating system:

    • Windows: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\VMware\vFabric\

    • Linux/Unix: /etc/opt/vmware/vfabric/

When you install on RHEL using an RPM, the installation process creates this file for you.

  2. Paste your serial number into this file and save it.

  3. Ensure that the file is readable by the user who runs vFabric RabbitMQ server.
