What's New

vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise 8.2.4 is a maintenance release with the following enhancements:

  • Upgraded Apache Tomcat to 7.0.65
    Apache Tomcat is upgraded to 7.0.65 in this release.
  • Upgraded JRE to 1.8.0_51
    JRE package is upgraded to 1.8.0_51 in this release.
  • Support for Out-of-the-Box Showback Management is removed
    Out-of-the-box Showback Management is not supported in vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise 8.2.4 and later.
  • Users can roll back to the previous content package in vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise
    By using the import option, content package that is imported into the vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise can be rolled back to the previous version or can be fully removed if it is the last version and no longer needed.
  • An ability to select the closing date in the cost model properties is available in vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise
    You can define a closing date for a cost model calculation using the Closing Date option.
  • vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise installer includes server parameters screens for Windows and Unix
    The installer includes separate screens for Windows and Unix server parameters.

  • vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise uses file system to send a report distribution
    You can email a report distribution in a CSV or an Excel file format in an operating system.
  • vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise includes full screen feature to view Reports and Dashboard
    You can hide the left and top menus and view the reports and dashboards in full screen mode.

Resolved Issues

The following issues have been resolved in vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise 8.2.4.

Designer

  • Export feature in a Resource Group Type results in an error
    A package cannot be exported when a new Resource Group Type is added and displays a data corrupt error message. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Multiple RTF documents contain formatting errors during report distribution
    Formatting errors are displayed when distributing RTF documents. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Performance Tuning feature for a report based on an output table of a Data Accumulator operator results in an error
    The performance tuning feature cannot build indexes from the output table created using the data accumulator operator. This issue is resolved by building the index on the source table, if the operator is data accumulator.
  • String type data cannot be modified to Text type in a Web Form
    You cannot modify a data type from a string to a text in a Web form in vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • CSV file format is not recognized in vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise
  • The vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise does not recognize the .csv file format and does not allow you to upload a file. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Reports fail to load when you define a new Coloring and Ordering group
    The vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise fails to load a report when the Coloring and Ordering group is defined. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • An extra space in the ITBM installation path does not allow you to upload a Flat File Adaptor
    The vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise does not allow you to upload a flat file adaptor when there is an extra space in the installation path. This issue is now resolved in this release.

Application

  • Out-of-the-box volume values in reports are not consistent across cost objects
    The volume column in the out-of-the-box report display incorrect values in the cost model view. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Out-of-the-box year to date (YTD) calculation does not display the calculation of a cost object that does not exist for all months in the YTD range
    In the cost analysis report, if a cost for a cost object is not available for a particular month, YTD does not display the calculation for that cost object at all. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • A new price formula cannot be added to an agreement
    vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise does not allow you to add a new business rule to an agreement when there are many service instances. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Cost calculation takes too long to run and fails in the Load Allocation Records
    Cost calculation takes too long to run, and fails while loading allocation records. To resolve this issue, provide grant any dictionary system privilege to the user.
  • Attempts to access Cost Analysis from a cost object in a cost model results in an error
    When you access a cost analysis of a cost object for a specific period, vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise results in an error. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Response time of a cost group is slow in a cost model
    The contents of a cost group in a cost model take more than ten minutes to load. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • User Defined Fields (UDF) does not allow more than 60 characters
    The vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise does not allow you to add more than 60 characters in any UDF. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Cost object reflects the old data after a ITFM Cycle
    The cost object displays old data in the cost model even after running a new ITFM cycle. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Google Chrome or Firefox upgrade displays an error
    Accessing vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise after you upgrade to Google Chrome 45 or Firefox 39, results in a weak ephemeral Diffie-Hellman public key error. This issue is resolved in this release.
  • Modified cell width appears unaffected when the report is exported to a PDF format
    When the percentage of a cell width is modified in a table report, the cell width appears unaffected when the report is exported to a PDF file format. This issue is resolved in this release.

Installation

  • Upgrading vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise does not update the earlier log path
  • vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise does not update the old log path to a new log path during installation. This issue is resolved in this release.

Security

vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise cannot be accessed when TLS 1.0 is enabled on all HTTPS handlers

You cannot access vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise environment when the TLS 1.0 is enabled on all HTTPS handlers due to security vulnerabilities. You can enable TLS v1 by performing the following steps:
  1. Stop the ITBM service.
  2. Open server.xml file from the <ITBM_Install>\ITBM\Tomcat-7.0.61\ITBM_82\conf.
  3. Search for the text sslEnabledProtocols="TLSv1.1,TLSv1.2" and replace it with sslEnabledProtocols="TLSv1,TLSv1.1,TLSv1.2".
  4. Start the ITBM service.

Known Issues

  • Editing Value Set causes title values in a row to be removed
    vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise might remove the title values in a row when Value Set is edited.
  • After performing a new installation of vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise 8.2.4, the user interface fails (UI) to load
    During a new installation of IT Financial Management (ITFM) only, the UI fails to load. However, upgrade or new installation of both SLM and ITFM is successful. This issue occurs in both Linux and Windows operating systems.
    Workaround: Perform the following steps to resolve this issue:
    1. Run the following database script post installation of vRealize Business Advanced and Enterprise
    2. update dfl_option o set o.value = 'false' where o.e_option_id = 2022;
      update dfl_option o set o.value = '3' where o.e_option_id = 2012;
      commit;
    3. Restart the application server.

    Note: You can also run the above database script during the Installation, go to Advanced Settings > Select SQL script file. In this case, you need not restart the server. For more information, see KB article http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2141419.
